Message 8 Hello EQ Europe networkers, This is the follow-up of the India report. But first: It is 22 January. Josh I read you EQ message. Sound disappointed. I don’t agree with you. Yes we have to work for our self. But that’s not the only thing we can do. These days here in India I experience that we can help others to help themselves together with others. We visit several educational projects where woman and wise people are working for the empowerment of the poor and woman in India. I know it is not enough. This first hundreds or thousands of people in educational, training and empowering projects need support. I try to give you all, a real picture of what is going on here in India. It is hard and painful but also joyful to work here. I hope others will give a helping hand. Not only for India. EQintelligent projects can do good work, that’s my experience these day’s.. I think it is a good idea to organize a NEXUS conference here. There is not only interest in EI methods and way of thinking, there are people here who can organize this conference with the Nexus team. They like it. In Bangalore we have recourses to take the first step. In Gudavalli Nadimpalli Ashram (the ashram where Gandi came for rest and study) is a staff of influential ‘New thinkers’ who will give a helping hand. The organization of Usha Gowri and some active NGO’s can do a lot of work. We try to give you and all others a picture of what is going on here. It’s a picture of struggle and development. WE have some simple roles for our work here. Begin at the doorstep of the clients. Behave like a good Indian and be yourself. Don’t help people, help people to help themselves together with others. People have to become owners of there own development projects. Do not ask the gouverment for help. Be joyful and enjoy you work. The 17th in the morning we travel to Inkollu by taxi. Inkollu is a little village. Most of the little farmer’s houses are constructed out of palm tree materials. Inside the houses it is clean and simple. Brown cows, chickens, children and dogs are everywhere. People are poor but not without power. They work in the fields and sell there handcraft, the fruits, rise etc. on the marked. The taxi stops in the front of a new building. Flags in all colours of the rainbow and flowers in the surrounding of the building presents the celebration of the inauguration of humanist bhavan, Radical Humanist centre. A big group of men in white jibba, dhothi and angavastram waits in the front of the building... There are 150 people in the building. Most of them are men. The most significant messages of this day are: the Quest for freedom and equality, to retain the value of dignity and worth, the struggle against traditions in India that divorce people in caste groups and allow only the high cast to educate well, the empowerment of the poor and empowerment of woman, the development of educational systems for everyone. The motivation of this group to realize a better world is very high. They will struggle, work and do what the can. IHEU gives support and resources here. These initiatives we see also in other villages in Andra Paresh. This people are looking for scientific knowledge to empower people. They try to connect there projects with others.
