"EQ IS SOMETHING YOU CAN DO" ' EQ is something you can do every day and everywhere!'' Ans told us in the teachers meeting on school next week. That meeting she puts a vase with yellow flowers on the table before us. There are also fruits on the table and water to drink. Ans: "I have chosen yellow flowers because that colour is a helpfull tool to concentrate. Colours are working in on your emotional level. We all know that. If you are tired, yellow will help you, if you are upset green will give you a 'time out'. If you are depressed orange (and also sunlight) will help you." The other teachers are surprised with this opening of the meeting. Everybody is chatting about colours and feelings. After the meeting starts Ans tells us something about her vision on emotional intelligence and body- brain learning. After the meeting all teachers agree: It was really good, this way of working. They did much more than they did in the (boring) meetings before. "That is remarkable because we have also spend more time for chatting and do this body work", Jo exclaimed. After the meeting I asked Ans about EQ: "Courage is the first thing" she says. "EQ; you can do it everyday and every where if you have the courage to do it. For me EQ is bringing balance between hart and head." All places where Ans meet people she takes a moment for EQ. No big theories, but little things: flowers, fruits, a stroke, a hug, a colour, a poem or a little story. For ANS: EQ is bringing balance between hart and head. For us: EQ is something you can do!
